Machame route is the one of the busiest route because it has high rate of summit success . It can be climb for 6 days but we much recommend a 7 day climb to give time for acclimatization and have more chance to summit. The trek starts at Machame gate and descent at Mweka gate.

The trek start at Machame gate, walk through the rainforest to the first camp
Evening: Diner and overnight at Machame Camp.
DISTANCE: 5KM/3MILES
TIME: 4-5HRS
Early breakfast at the camp, start your hike out of rainforest into heather and moorland. Here you will cross many streams and walk over a plateau that leads to shira 2 camp.
Evening: Diner and overnight at Shira 2Camp.
DISTANCE: 10KM/7MILES
TIME: 6-8HRS
Today you will experience high and low elevation. You will first trek a high elevation through and alpine desert for about five hours to Lava tower then trek for about two hours down to Barranco camp
Evening: Diner and overnight at Barranco camp.
DISTANCE: 5KM/3MILES
TIME: 4-5HRS
Today you will trek slowly through the Barranco valley on alpine desert high to the Barranco wall then to Karanga valley .
Evening: Diner and overnight at Karanga Valley.
DISTANCE: 4KM/2MILES
TIME: 4-5HRS
Now we are very close to summit! Here trek slowly towards Barafu camp and you will have clear view of kibo and Mawenzi peak as you walk towards Barafu Camp. Today a n early diner will be served for a n early bed to prepare a midnight summit .
Evening: Diner and overnight at Barafu camp.
DISTANCE: 15KM/10MILES
TIME: 10-12HRS
Today is a summit day! Here we have two part, one from Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peaks the highest point of the mountain which takes about 7 hours and another from Uhuru peaks to Mweka camp which takes around 5hours. You will wake up at midnight, have a cup of coffee at the camp and trail for about six hour to Stella point at the crater rim then trek on the snow covered trail for about an hour to reach the uhuru peak! Now you are at the highest point of Africa! Take enough photos here before you descent to the next camp that will take you about 5 hours
Evening: Diner and overnight at Mweka Camp.
DISTANCE: 10KM/6MILES
TIME: 3-4HRS
This is your last day on the mountain! Trail through the forest to Mweka gate, here you will find your driver waiting to pick you up and drop you to a close by lodge for shower , a nice hot lunch and a cold drink in a swimming pool.
